What is the difference between an agent, a broker, or a REALTOR®? Agents and brokers are terms that can vary slightly in meaning from one state to the next, including what they may do for you. REALTOR®s are agents and brokers that are members of a trade organization dedicated to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. The National Association of Realtors requires members to take specialized training to stay up to date on federal and state laws regarding real estate transactions and anti-discrimination requirements. They must also take an oath to adhere to the higher ethical standards of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.
