Things to Do in Northern Colorado this August, 2026
Summer is coming to a close, but there’s still fun to be had all around NoCo! Read on for some ideas of cool things to do this August 2026 in Northern Colorado.
Fort Collins Comic Con
When: August 14th – August 16th, 2026
Arguably a hidden gem within the ever-expanding world of pop-culture gatherings, Fort Collins Comic Con brings to Northern Colorado all the best things about these kinds of conventions. Taking place August 14th through 16th at the Fort Collins Senior Center, Fort Collins Comic Con features 75+ panels, Live Action Roleplaying, a cosplay contest, and the ability to join in playing TTRPG games like Dread and D&D. Badge sales benefit a worthy cause, and can be purchased on Fort Collins Comic Con’s website.
Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair
When: August 14th – August 15th, 2026
Going strong for 42 years, The 2026 Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair is a haven for fans of the printed word. Geared towards connecting fans of physical books with the vendors who supply them, this convention features vendors “from across North America” showcasing everything from rare books to trading cards. Admission is free for “faculty, teachers, librarians, students & children,” and for everyone else, tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite for only $7.00! NoCo Hero Fest
When: August 22nd, 2026
In this time of superhero movies and conventions, its important that we stop and celebrate the real-life heroes of our everyday lives that are first on the scene in emergencies. Northern Colorado Hero Fest, hosted by Canvas Credit Union and Canvas Foundation, aims to do just that. This family-friendly event promises “an afternoon of connection, celebration, and fun.” Children and adults alike may enjoy tours of first responder vehicles, and there will be food and music along with other family-friendly activities. Proceeds from the event directly benefit the first responders of Northern Colorado. For more information, check out the event page on Canvas Foundation’s website.
Tie Dye Workshop at Loveland Aleworks
When: August 30th, 2026
Loveland Aleworks has many cool events coming up this Fall, but they’re happily closing out summer with a fun Tie Dye Workshop on August 30th. A white Loveland Aleworks T-shirt and tie dye materials will be provided to ticket holders, so that they can leave the workshop having dyed a “wearable piece of art that’s uniquely yours!” If the T-shirt isn’t enticing enough, dog bandanas, socks, and scrunchies are available for additional purchase. Blood Drive at Berthoud Library
When: August 31st, 2026
Close out the month by making a difference! On August 31st, Berthoud Library is putting on a blood drive. Those interested in donating can drop by the Berthoud Library between 10am and 2pm that day to participate, but as the Berthoud Library events page reminds you, “make sure to eat something beforehand, drink plenty of water, and bring an ID card.” This Blood Drive is a great way to make an understated, but important, difference in the lives of others.
