Things to Do in Northern Colorado - October 2026

Autumn is abundant with fun things to do in Northern Colorado. As we head into the holiday season, we can expect more social gatherings, themed events, and other fun outing options across the Front Range. As you might imagine, there are many spooky Halloween-themed events happening, too, which I’ll explore separately. For now, here are a few recommendations of other fun events and activities you may want to try this Fall, from your friendly NoCo REALTOR.

Debut Theatre Company’s Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Where: The Lincoln Center, Fort Collins, CO

When: October 9th – October 24th, 2026

The story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman rides into The Lincoln Center starting on Friday, October 9th. The Debut Theatre Company, dedicated to bringing the joy of theatre to young people across Northern Colorado, brings this classic, spooky tale to life for nine performances spanning the 9th to the 24th. Fort Collins Nursery’s Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off & Fall Jamboree

Where: Fort Collins Nursery

When: October 10th, 2026

It’s the great pumpkin (event), Northern Colorado! This time of year, Fort Collins Nursery brings in pumpkin growers from all over to compete for the designation of heaviest pumpkin (or squash) with breathtaking results-- the first place winner last year came in at just under 2,000 pounds! Along with the contest on the 10th, the nursery runs a special celebratory “Jamboree” featuring face painting, pumpkin bowling, hayrides, and more! Adaptive Inclusive Recreation’s Fall Carnival and Resource Fair

Where: Family FunPlex in Greeley, CO

When: October 11th, 2026

Greeley Recreation’s Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR) program “provides activities and services to individuals in the community who have varying levels of physical or intellectual abilities,” seeking to empower individuals of any ability to enjoy recreational activities. The Fall Carnival and Resource Fair is a special offering--a festive autumn gathering geared towards connecting those with disabilities to resources available within the Greeley community. Toughest Monster Truck Tour

Where: The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland, CO

When: October 16th & 17th, 2026

Make way for another set of monsters this Halloween month! If your kids, or you, are a fan of monster trucks, you won’t want to miss the Toughest Monster Truck Tour at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. Visiting us here in Northern Colorado on its way across the country, the Toughest Monster Truck Tour promises an exciting lineup for monster truck enthusiasts. Berthoud Scarecrow Contest

Where: Berthoud Main Street, Berthoud, CO

When:

Participant registration deadline: Oct 1st
Community voting: October 17th-30th, 2026
Winner revealed: October 31st

Berthoud community members or even just those passing through may notice a preponderance of scarecrows taking up residence in the town later this month. During the second half of October, Berthoud businesses and organizations will be participating in the town’s annual Scarecrow Contest. Berthouders and visitors alike are encouraged to follow the Scarecrow map which will be released during judging time to take in the entries throughout town Community members will then have the opportunity to vote online for the best scarecrow, with the winner revealed on Halloween! Friends of the Loveland Public Library Fall Used Book Sale

Where: The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland, CO

When: October 23rd (for members), October 24th and 25th

For avid readers in NoCo, this sale is kind of a big deal. Every year, the nonprofit Friends of the Loveland Public Library puts on two huge used book sales with some sales having “over 50,000 books in all genres.” With this being the second of the two semi-annual book sales put on by the nonprofit, you’ll have to wait until almost May for the next one, so make sure to hurry to the event center the weekend of the 23rd. Swan Lake with Live Orchestra at Union Colony Civic Center

Where: Union Colony Civic Center in Greeley, CO

When: October 24th, 2026

There’s nothing like the energy of a live orchestra to elevate any kind of performance, especially ballet. This will be the case for the World Ballet Company’s rendition of Swan lake, which takes place at Union Colony Civic Center in Greeley on October 24th. This breathtaking live performance is designed “to captivate both seasoned ballet fans and first-time theatergoers” and is surely not to be missed.
