Things to Do in Fort Collins: Fun Events Happening Weekly or Monthly
While I’ve touched on things to do in NoCo by month on this blog before, there are always lots of fun events happening regularly all over Northern Colorado. Today, we focus on Fort Collins. Whether you’re new to the area or trying to get a feel for the town, you’ll find Fort Collins has a generous menu of events covering a wide variety of interests. As a NoCo local, I’ve rounded up a few examples of fun recurring events in Fort Collins you might just want to take a look at.
Karaoke Club at The Lyric
When: Weekly on Tuesdays
This fun, accessible offering from The Lyric, in Fort Collins, brings an energetic night of karaoke weekly to their eclectic venue. Occurring weekly on Tuesdays, and running strong since 2022, the karaoke club is a fun way to live in the moment and sing off some stress. It takes place in the lobby of the Lyric, with signups at 6:30 pm. For more information, check out the event page on The Lyric’s website here.
Fort Collins Ghost Tours
When: Weekly on Fridays and Saturdays
Like any good town, Fort Collins has its spooky spots. For those who love a good ghost story, or walking through creepy settings, Fort Collins Tours offers special walking tours through “Fort Collins most historic and allegedly haunted sites.” Experienced tour guides will take you through these locations, sharing “personal anecdotes, local legends, and well-researched ghost stories.” Though the tours are typically intended to be a bit scary, “family-friendly” versions of the tour are available if you want to bring little ones. For further information, or to book a tour, check out Fort Collins Tours.
Fort Collins Foodie Walk™
When: 3rd Friday of the month
The third Friday of each month, Fort Collins foodies can get their steps in on a self-guided walking tour through Downtown Fort Collins and “sample seasonal flavors and exciting taste experiences.” The tour runs from 5-8pm and is totally free to join! What’s more, by visiting a participating business you’ll have an opportunity to sign up for a monthly gift basket drawing of curated goodies from Fort Collins Foodie Walk™ businesses. For more details, and a list of participating locations, check out the event page on Downtown Fort Collins’ website.
Make and Mend at Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising
When: 1st Saturday of the month
You might be surprised to find out there’s more life in those clothes you were going to throw out. Whether it’s pants with a hole that needs patching, or that threadbare favorite T-shirt, this unique offering from the Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising on the CSU campus is all about providing you with the tools and know-how to give damaged clothing items a second chance. As the museum’s event page emphasizes, however, this time can also be used to work on “upcycling, mending, fabric DIY, cosplay, stuffy repair, quilting, or anything else textiles.” If you’re a crafter who would enjoy a weekend working session around other enthusiasts, you can drop-in to this event between 10am and 3pm the first Saturday of every month.
NoCo Swing Dance at Club Tico
When: 2nd and 4th Friday of each month
If you’ve ever watched someone bust out some Swing dance moves on a dancefloor and thought “I wish I could do that,” you’re in luck! In Fort Collins, you can get a taste for the dance style at the NoCo Swing Dance nights at Club Tico. The night starts with a beginner swing dance lesson and progresses into social swing dance as the night goes on. Admission is offered on a sliding “pay what you can afford” scale from $10-20. For more information, check out NoCo Swing Dance’s website here.
